OUR RECOMMENDATION
Quite often in life - wherever we are - when we want to buy something - we'll ask the salesperson what is more fitting for our application. Naturally - we all know this as a "recommendation". Something Stylus-R-Us does not give for the following reason. In SRU early days - we had two separate customers ask for our recommendation. We gave them what we felt would serve them best - and in both cases over the next week - they decided they didn't care for our recommendation - and returned the stylus for another of ours they preferred - thus - costing us both - time and money. This is something we'd prefer not to participate in.
More realistically - where all our stylus tips are made of the same (NON-RUBBER - NON-FOAM - NON-SCRATCHING - NON-METAL - NON-HARMFUL) material - they' re all as good as the next. Knowing that - it's 100% preference from there. If we did give recommendations - it would be to read the rest of this page. Other than that - sorry - but we just can't make up your mind. This is your stylus - and therefore - your decision. In other words - always purchase the stylus you want – no matter what we say. That will never change.
With that being said – if you have an iPad - XOOM or any of the other dozens of large - touch screen devices - including touch screen computers – prior to placing an order – you need to try this test on your large screen device. Locate any writing utensil 6” long or less: the average size of a writing instrument. Now - hold it in the hand you write with – and pretend (ONLY) you’re using it as a stylus on your pad or tablet. Actually hold it over the device and bring the tip close to the glass and pretend you’re writing – drawing - or doing what ever it is you do.
In the process of doing so – notice that a portion of your arm – wrist and your entire hand – is covering the face of the device – blocking the majority of what you’re trying to do – as well as everything else on the screen. With this the way it is – imagine buying ANY stylus from us or anyone – (from the 5 & 6" category) – and - in place of the writing utensil you select for this test – you’re using your new stylus. What’s different - as far as seeing the screen? Your hand – wrist – and a part of your arm – are still in the way. And why? Because you chose to buy a stylus - 6 inches or less.

Now - imagine having any one of our 12 TELESCOPING styluses – that allow you to STILL hold the stylus - as you would a PEN - when that's needed. With a telescoping stylus extended - nothing more than a quarter inch in diameter of stylus tubing - is over the screen - not blocking anything. Obviously – you can now see the whole screen - what you’re doing - and any icons you want to click on next. By purchasing ANY of our telescoping styluses – over any 6” or less stylus - you'll see that was the right decision.
As to how you hold a long stylus? You hold them exactly like you hold the shorter stylus. They aren’t heavy. They're not awkward. They’re so pen-like – you’re not going to believe it. But you say..."Nahhh...I still prefer the regular size stylus for note taking and drawing." And we say - great! No problem - which is exactly why you have the best of both worlds with a telescoping stylus - as they all retract to 5 or 6" for your short stylus needs - and extend - for your long stylus needs.
Never forget however – we’ll sell any stylus you want. They all have the EXACT same soft-touch-tip - so the performance is the same. But long - is the only way to go for all of the pads and tablets. Above - shows a photo of the Brass Roger iWand - and how it too allows the user to see the screen - rather than blocking it - as all of our telescoping stylus will allow. However - telescoping stylus are far beneficial and versatile and more productive - than a stylus frozen in size. You can see from these photos - how long - is better.
NOTE-TAKING
If - however - you do note-taking 90 to 100% of the time - you should get a CAPPED STYLUS - as you don't need a telescoping - and by having a capped stylus - you'll be able to take it anywhere and the cap will protect the tip.
As always - purchase what you want. But you'll be further ahead - if you purchase a telescoping stylus - as they're so versatile and light weight - they make using a stylus a real joy. A perfect analogy would be - recall cooking marshmallows over an opened fire and how you had that 15 to 20 inch long fork - so you wouldn't get burnt? Imagine trying to cook marshmallows or hot dogs - with a regular size fork: 6"? You'd be burned to a crisp. Everything requires the right tools for the job – and a telescoping stylus - is the only way to go for the larger screens: A legend in their own time.
